1. Version History
------------------

0.8 - *NEW!* Has the ability to output the finished version of the file, with
      all the repeats removed.

0.7 - Will now detect mirrored versions of previously found tiles. 1bpp, NES
      2bpp, GB 2bpp support added.

0.5 - Only recognizes SNES 4BPP format.

--------------
2. Explanation
--------------

Tile Counter is a fairly simple program for the discriminating Graphics Hackers
out there. The userbase of a program like this is quite small, as you can
probably imagine. You give the program the file you wish to read, indicate
what format the graphics are in, and Tile Counter will count the number of
unique tiles it finds and output the number of tiles. A new feature now allows
you, if you so choose, to output the crunched up version of the file with all
of the repeats removed. Have no fear, your tilelayouts will not be shot to
hell, as the first copy of the tile (you know, that one that isn't removed)
retains it's position in the file.

3. Using Tile Counter
---------------------

There have been some changes in how you use Tile Counter since the last
version. Everything is done straight from the command line now. The syntax is
as follows:

tilecounter.exe filename.ext -format -output

Formats supported:
  0 - NES 1bpp
  1 - NES 2bpp
  2 - GB 2bpp
  3 - SNES 4bpp

Output (0 by default):
  0 - No output
  1 - Outputs to filename.ext.out

EXAMPLE:

tilecounter.exe test.bin -3 -1

Tile Counter reads test.bin in SNES format and outputs the crunched result
into test.bin.out.

4. Future Versions
------------------

I have a couple other planned features if there is enough demand for them.

Examples include:

- Support for more formats
- Options to read only a selected portion of the file
- Maybe a Windows App

Other suggestions are of course encouraged, just keep the basic function of
the program in mind. This is not an editor by any means!
